2007 Game Simulator

Team Argos has developed a game simulator to aid in scoring and making scoring decisions during gameplay.

It has been designed an implemented with the intention to simulate different game scoring conditions. Illegal placement of game pieces is not allowed and therefore no penalties are calculated into the score. The usage is simple -- drag game pieces from the "supply" area in the lower portion of the dialog, then drop them on the desired rack location. More usage information is available in the "?" screen.

Placing Game Pieces
Use the mouse to 'drag-and-drop' the game pieces from the supply areas near the bottom of the screen to the desired position on the rack.

As the pieces are dragged across the rack, the game piece will appear with a red crosshatch if the game piece cannot be legally placed on the indicated rack location.

Removing Game Pieces
Double-right click (Or <Ctrl>+<Left Click>) on a game piece to remove it from the rack. Note that seemingly “illegal” operations are allowed in this mode, such as to enable easy simulation of potential game conditions.

Autonomous and Endgame Conditions
Each team has (3) keepers in its supply area; these keepers can be used at anytime, to help provide more flexibility in simulating different game conditions.

Endgame conditions are simulated by choosing one of the five buttons at the bottom of the screen below the supply area. Endgame conditions are calculated into the score immediately.

About FIRST
The FIRST Robotics Competition is an exciting, multinational competition that teams professionals and young people to solve an engineering design problem in an intense and competitive way. The program is a life-changing, career-molding experience -- and a lot of fun.

FIRST Robotics Competition combines the excitement of sport with science and technology to create a unique varsity sport for the mind. FRC helps high-school-aged young people discover the rewarding and engaging world of innovation and engineering.

The FIRST Robotics Competition stages short games played by remote-controlled robots. The robots are designed and built in 6 weeks (out of a common set of basic parts) by a team of 15 to 25 high-school-aged young people and a handful of engineers-mentors. The students pilot the robots on the field. Each school year, teams are formed in the fall. Competitions take place in March and April. The FIRST Robotics Competition Regional events are typically held in university arenas. They involve 40 to 70 teams cheered by thousands of fans over two and a half days.

In 2006, the competition reached over 28,000 high-school-aged young people on over 1,125 teams in 33 regional events. Teams came from Brazil, Canada, Ecuador, Israel, Mexico, the U.K., and almost every U.S. state.
